Love Came Down at Christmas

God is with us not because we step up but because …. Love came down.

We live with a relentless burden of constant demands. Whether it’s “man up” or “step up” or maybe even “tone up” the crushing weight of these words hang over us. The pressure to meet our standards (as well as the expectations of others) can be draining. We know too well the disappointment that comes when we do not measure up.

This Christmas at GBC we’ll be reflecting on why the arrival of Jesus as a baby in Bethlehem is really good news to a weary world. Rather than making an impossible demand on us, Jesus enters our world and meets us where we are. There are no ladders to climb, hoops to jump through or targets to hit.
Our theme for December is “love came down at Christmas.” No matter where you are or what you think about your own situation, we believe that Christmas is good news to all people. God is with us not because we step up but because …. Love came down.
